We are such 'smarties' with fractions

Lesson: Maths

Following a week of investigating fractions we have, this week, been looking at fractions of quantities. After practising our skills on Monday and Tuesday today came a lesson on using smarties! We were given a plate picture which we folded into quarters to remind us of how to find our answers. We then used our smarties to find halves, quarters and three quarters of certain numbers. We could also use them to find tricky missing number fractions e.g. One quarter of ? = 4. We did these really well. Some of even us found the fractions of smarties in a whole packet by sorting them by colour and writing the fraction each colour represented.

A fantastic way to investigate fractions and we were indeed such 'smarties'! Well done Year 2!
