School Parliament
Everyone at Lacey Green Primary Academy is in School Parliament!
At regular points each term, the whole school splits into groups and meet to discuss the focus question. Each group is led by an adult and has one or two children from each year group.
Older children support the younger members of their group to find where the group is meeting - we have to use every available space in school - and also support the group by scribing everyone's responses into our School Parliament books.
As we are all responding to the same focus question, everyone's ideas are then collected and reviewed by Mr Copland and Mr Shaw, who decide on the next steps. Depending on the feedback given, the next steps may include:
- Sharing the feedback with the whole school
- Sharing the feedback with teachers and subject leaders to improve an area of school
- Sharing the feedback with parents
- Asking the School Parliament Representatives (democratically elected each year by their class) to further explore, plan or implement the next stage of the project.
Our focus questions are always related to improving the school for everyone's benefit and are usually set by Mr Copland and Mr Shaw, however children are also invited to suggest School Parliament focus questions too.
