Turns and direction

Lesson: Maths

This week we have used our fractions work to help us with turns and direction. We have used the vocabulary clockwise, anti-clockwise, whole, half and quarter and three-quarter turns.  

We drew circles on the playground and marked out the quarters. I called out a direction and size of turn and the children had to guess which direction I would be facing. I then turned and we found out if they were right. 

The children then tried this in groups and we began to draw other shapes and mark on the fractions.
