In Science, we have been experimenting with different instruments looking how pitches are created. The children had to explain how pressing ukulele strings higher up the neck created higher sounds, how to lower the pitch on a glockenspiel and why covering the holes on a recorder changed the pitch. A common misconception at the start of the lesson was that high pitches created quieter sounds and lower pitches made louder sounds. This was soon proved to be incorrect!
