Skeletons
Lesson: Science
We’ve been learning all about Animals including Humans in Science and this week we have been focusing on different types of skeletons and the scientific names for our bones.
We were especially amazed by the small spaces an octopus can fit into due to its hydrostatic skeleton. (Have a look on YouTube)
Long gone are the days of “the hip bone’s connected to the leg bone” for 3O. We now know it’s actually the pelvis is connected to the femur.
Today we’ve been constructing human skeletons with paper cut outs and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Never did I think I would hear my class saying “Who’s thrown our scapula in the bin?” or “Where are our tibias and fibulas?”
The children worked very hard on this task, which was trickier than we first expected. They showed excellent team work skills and despite a few feet on the wrong legs we were impressed by the outcome. Great work everyone.
