Remembrance and Diwali

What a busy week we have had in R1! We began the week learning about Remembrance and the story of the Poppy. The children took part in a two minute silence to remember all of the people who fought in the war and created poppy pictures of their own.

In Maths we have been learning about the Number 4, counting out four objects from a larger group and recognising whether images show four or not four. In English we have been learning about firework poetry and the children wrote words to describe the sounds of the fireworks using onomatopoeia.

We have have also been learning about the celebration of Diwali and have read stories and begun to make our own clay Diya lamps.
