Length and Height
Lesson: Maths
This week in Year 1, we started to learn about Length and Height.
First we had to compare the length and height of different objects, using our new key vocabulary - shorter, taller, and longer. We then looked at measuring the length and height of items using a non-standard unit of measure. We looked at using cubes to measure length and height, and some of us used pasta spirals and counting teddies too. Next, we will look at measuring length and height in cm using a ruler. Have a look at our learning in action, in the pictures below.
Elsewhere this week, we have been challenging ourselves with our phonics by reading multi-syllabic words and focusing on speedy reading. We also enjoyed a Cracking Comprehension task and in Geography, we have been finding out a little bit more about our local area, Wilmslow.
We had a great time on Monday on Zoom. Well done to all those children who shared for Show and Tell and a special mention to Mr Myers who also shared his news with a beautiful picture of his daughter Cecilia. We finished with a Scavenger Hunt game, which we all loved!
All this and much much more! A big thank you to all the adults at home, for their support with this week's home learning.
