Investigating Gears

Lesson: Design and technology

This week, Year 5 are studying gears and pulleys.  To investigate the use of gears, the class made two demonstration boards, showing how gears can be joined.  One board used a chain to link two gears whilst the other used a chain of gears which rotated one another in turn.  The boards required steady hands and patience to make sure the gear teeth were stuck down carefully and without damage.
