Improving our Partner Talk!

Lesson: Maths

In 1W, we have been working hard to improve our partner talk when solving problems with our learning partners. We have been asking our learning partner questions such as 'How do you know?', 'What has happened to the value?' and 'Can you explain our target method?' to help and challenge our maths thinking. We have been working on our verbal explanations of different methods too and we can now confidently teach and explain new target methods to our learning partner. 
 

We have also been practising our turn taking skills on the carpet, by listening to our partner first before sharing our own opinions. We are also beginning to build on, and challenge the ideas of others.
