Halving, quartering and doubling!

Lesson: Maths

In Year 1 this week we have been working hard to halve and quarter different amounts. We used a bar model to represent and solve each problem. We had to make sure that the parts were equal.

We are also focusing on improving our partner talk. We asked our partners questions to check their understanding and to help their learning. Instead of accepting our partner's first answer, we asked them questions like "How do you know this is a half?",  "How do you know you have quartered 8 correctly?" and "Can you explain what a half is?".
