Year 5 are learning about Earth and space in science this term.  To try and visualise what are Solar System looks like we made a scale model using fruit.  Sadly, there wasn't a fruit big enough for the 3m Sun so we had to use paper but do look out for...

Mercury - Peppercorn

Venus - Cherry tomato

Earth - Cherry tomato

Mars - Blueberry

Jupiter - Melon

Saturn - Grapefruit

Uranus - Apple

Neptune - Lime

We learned that the planets are VERY small, are very far away from one another and are positioned at uneven distances. However, it did help us to realise how special we are.
