Food for Fuel Project Year 1
Lesson: Science
Mrs Slater from Tesco came and visited Lacey Green today to explain about the Food for Fuel project. She described to us what makes a healthy, balanced diet and we found out some interesting facts about food. The children were shocked to discover that there are NINE teaspoons of sugar in a can of coke! We were given a selection of healthy foods and challenged to make them into a foodie face.
In the afternoon we spent some time thinking and making a healthy lunchbox. We discussed healthy eating is not just about eating fruit and vegetables but a mix of foods. The children planted a tiny tomato seed to take home and nurture before going outside and getting some exercise - something else we need to be healthy!
