To finish off some work we have been doing on fractions we used bread to remind us of the fact that 1/2 is equivalent to 2/4, a concept that we have found quite tricky. We cut the bread in half and then with one of the halves sliced again to make our two quarters. We then compared these with the half we had remaining. This really helped the class to visualise the concept and really got it stuck in their heads!
