DT Theme Week - Puppets!

Lesson: Design and technology

This week is Design and Technology Theme Week and 2A have been making puppets from scratch! We started out by researching and learning all about the different types of puppets, in particular hand puppets. The children then drew three different designs and chose their favourite design that they were going to follow to create their own hand puppet. Firstly we drew out a template on card which we then drew round on felt and cut out.  Next the children practised sewing running stitches on some binka and also on felt that had holes already pre punched.  The children were very sensible when handling their needles and we were so impressed with their sewing skills! When we felt confident to, we started stitching our felt puppet together. Finally we glued on any details and enjoyed playing with our very own puppets! What fun we had!
