Dips and Dippers!

Lesson: Design and technology

2M have had a fanastic time making some delicious dips for our focus on Food Technology.  We started out by exploring dips from different countries and using atlases to find out where the country was on a world map. 

Next was the fun part - we tasted and evaluated the following dips: hummus, guacamole, thousand island, raita and sala. We looked at the taste, texture, smell and what ingredients were in each one. We then tested and tasted some dippers such as celery, carrots and bread sticks and decided on our favourite one.

 

After planning and designing our dip, we set about to create our own unique recipe. The children learnt about food hygiene and how to handle kitchen equipment safely. They they made their own packaging and spent time evaluating their individual dip. Well done 2M, here are some photos for you to look at.
