Class 4J- Reading

This Autumn, the children have begun studying a super book entitled 'The World of Whales- Get to know the Giantsvof the Ocean'  as part of a unit about Living Things, Habitats and Animals. The first book and associated texts have linked brilliantly together with our 'The Whale' writing text. 

During the first sessions, the children have read a number of extracts from the book and really enjoyed engaging in each text. Whilst learning how to effectively retrieve key facts from the text, they have learnt an incredible amount of facts about whales including the fact that whales can plunge to depths of more than 2000metres! Amazing!

Later on in the unit, the children discussed the positive and negative impacts of humans on the whales species.
