Class 4J- RE Week (1)
Lesson: Religious education
CLASS 4J: RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
This week, we began our next Reiligious Education Judaism unit. The unit's big enquiry question is: How important is it for Jewish people to what God asks them to do?
As part of answering this question, the children began by watching a short famous clip of the characted Oliver, in 'Oliver Twist' asking for more! This introduced the theme of food and the children went on to consider their favourite foods and meals whch they shared with their peers. Then they were asked to imagine if they were not allowed to eat these or a month! Their reactions were predictable: upset, devastated, unhappy! The children went on to find out about the Jewish practices involving food and speciically, 'Kosher food' (Kashrut). This led to the children beginning to create their own Jewish food menus.
