CLASS 4J: DESIGN TECHNOLOGY WEEK

This week, the children were set their first design technology project brief: To design and make as Christmas vehicle to entertain children.

At the start of the week, the children invetsigated their favourite toys and learned about wheels and axles. They went on to investigate a range of different joining techniques in order to evaluate their effectiveness. 

Following this, the children considered a range of design proposal ideas and then began to create templates for their final design. These were then used to build the sides of their vehicle. They also constructed their chassis net, wheels and axle(after having measured and cut their dowel to size) and then attached the sides. After this, the children began to check their vehicle moved freely when pushed and tweaker their construction as required.

The children finaly added their finishing touches to make their vehicle as Christmassy as possible.

All children were then asked to evaluate their vehicles against the design criteria.
