CLASS 4J - AFRICAN DRUMMING
Today, pupils in Class 4J were treated to two fantastic African Drumming workshops delivered by Jamie from Drumroots.
Jamie provided an excellent introduction to the background of African drumming and dance traditions of Guinea in West Africa. The children were introduced to the main drum, the Djembe, used in the workshop by all of the children. They went on to produce some fantastic drumming which included lots of call and response and some highly complex rhythmic patterns. The children really rose to the challenge that Jamie set, and they all absolutely loved the experience.
The two workshops finished with a final performance. Excellent musical outcomes alongside fantastic opportunities to explore the pupils' individual musical abilities!
