An eventful day for Year 1...
Lesson: English
On Monday 24th September, Year 1 returned to find their classroom in an absolute mess! Chairs were turned over and there was rubbish all over the floor and tables. The pencil pots had been emptied out over the tables and there were crayon markings ALL UP THE WALLS!!!
They then noticed a letter sitting at the front of the classroom – it was from the crayons, explaining that they had quit! They were fed up and very unhappy!
We then read a story called ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Oliver Jeffers. The story shared a number of letters written by the different crayons, explaining why they had quit.
Some of the crayons were spotted around the school. Red and Blue Crayon must have been hungry as they were found in the kitchen at lunchtime! Unfortunately, a few of the crayons are still on strike!
Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at the structure and features of a letter, and having a go at writing our own!
