Expansion Consultation now CLOSED
THE CONSULTATION HAS NOW CLOSED - ENDED ON 2nd JULY 2013
PROPOSED EXPANSION OF PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN WILMSLOW.
At thePortfolio Holder meeting held on the 22 April 2013, Councillor Rachel Bailey, Cheshire East Borough Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Children, and Families Services, authorised consultation on the following school expansion proposals:
- Dean Oaks Primary from 315 to 420 pupil places;
- Wilmslow Grange Community Primary & Nursery School from 210 to 315 pupil places; and.
- Lacey Green Primary Academy from 300 to 420 pupil places.
It is proposed that these expansions would apply with effect from September 2014.
Lacey Green Primary Academy invite you to take part in this consultation, which commences on 30 April 2013 and runs for 8 weeks ending 2nd July 2013. A consultation document providing full details of these proposals, including the decision making process and key dates, is published on the Council’s website together with a form for you to feedback your views.
At the end of the consultation, all feedback received will be collated and presented to the Council’s Portfolio Holder in order that a decision can be taken about the next stage in the process, which can be to authorise the publication of notices and the statutory 4 weeks representation period on the proposed expansions of Dean Oaks Primary and Wilmslow Grange Community Primary.
Academy Proposals
It should be noted that the Local Authority cannot propose the expansion of an Academy. This is the responsibility of the Academy Trust. The purpose of including the Lacey Green proposal in the Authority’s consultation exercise is to work in collaboration with the Academy Trust, as far as possible, and to provide clarity for all consultees on the plans for growth in the Wilmslow area. All feedback received on the proposal to expand Lacey Green Primary Academy will be shared with the Academy Trust to inform their own decision-making process.
There is no requirement for the Academy Trust to issue a public notice and implement a 4 weeks representation period. The Academy Trust will, however, consult on its proposal in line with the 8 weeks recommended by the Department for Education. You will still be able to access the consultation document and feedback form via the Local Authority’s website during this period and on our own website:
