Year 1 Rounders

Lesson: Physical education

We had a fantastic afternoon outside playing our own rounders tournament. After splitting into 4 teams we listened carefully to the rules of the game then got out onto the field. The children needed to hit two balls and kick a football before running as fast as they could round the cones whilst the fielders raced against time to collect the three balls and put them into a bucket before the other team member got to the end of the cones. As they played they learnt new skills and ideas, such as the fielders throwing the ball to another team member instead of holding onto it and carrying it to the bucket which took longer. The children played very competitively and showed to be good sportsmen cheering their friends on.
