Lesson: Design and technology

During D&T week, we designed our own Christmas cushion inspired by the designer 'Cath Kidston'. 

At the start of the week, we practised a sewing skill from Year 2, a running stitch, to see what could be remembered Year 2. 

Afterwards, we researched Cath Kidston, looked at her designs and researched cushions that had been brought in. The children then had the opportunity to design and draw a technical drawing of their desired cushion.

There was lots of practising our new skill, cross stitching, before we started. We then cross stitched our design onto binca. After, we appliquéd the binca to some felt with a running stitch.

Our final task was to use the running stitch again to join two pieces of felt together and make the cushion 3D by stuffing it with some filling.

We then had the opportunity to see all the pieces produced from the other year groups.
